Fairview Heights has been a surprisingly good move. I was a little hesitant thinking of moving to the "big city" (we are only 10 min east of St. Louis).
I love New York City, but I think I have a little PTSD, and bringing six kids into city life again gave me a moments pause. Okay, honestly several moments pause.
The area we have moved to is nothing like New York City. For example, arriving home from church on our first Sunday, we found this big bad guy by our front door.
Then while unpacking boxes, I let out a hardy scream when I mistook this guy for one of the kids' toys.
He's only about 5-6 inches long! Gross!
Yes, we didn't move to the "big city", we moved to the holding area for the St. Louis Zoo Reptile House. (Mom I still expect a visit.)
Other than the little "visitors", I have found the area friendly, welcoming and has LOTS of shopping. I think I'm going to like it here. (You can break out into the song from Annie if you like.)
Now if I can only finish unpacking those last few boxes!
